“Thresher sharks are incredibly adapt to their environment; their big pectoral fins for efficient swimming, their big eyes for seeing in the low-lit deep and the long tail to slap and catch their prey. Being typically rare to see, being surrounded by dozens of pelagic thresher sharks felt surreal. They’re as curious as their eyes suggest, and come close to inspect this strange figure blowing bubbles. Coming within arm-length meant I could see the details of the predator, such as the lateral line that runs alongside the body, with which they detect vibrations, water movements and pressure changes in the water.”
