“This juvenile batfish – no bigger than a tennis ball – was dancing in a rock crevice when it caught my eye. It was a great challenge to photograph the young individual, as the long fins were moving constantly. The juvenile will change its colours as it grows bigger, exchanging its ink-black and neon orange for white, brown and yellow. A very rare find. Diving in Ambon bay in the Moluccas never seizes to surprise me.”
Species: Platas pinnatus
