“A clownfish comfortably nestled amongst the soft, swaying anemone. Me, not so much – fiddling with my underwater camera settings, holding a torch in my left hand, stabilising the rig and trying to get the composition right, all while holding me breath as to not spook my subject. It’s one of the first times I’m trying underwater photography and it’s proven hard. Really hard. Though, a year after I took this photo, National Geographic Traveller UK published this photo in their print and online magazine. As a novice photographer, this motivated me to keep going, keep learning and – hopefully – get better.”
